Focus UST Fund Balances on Active Businesses
As the Iowa Underground Storage Tank (UST) Cleanup Fund continues to operate without new funding, remaining monies should be prioritized to focus on active fuel marketing businesses with UST fund-eligible expenses. Narrowing this focus ensures the rural fuel distribution network is preserved as intended and the environment remains protected.

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) Underground Storage Tank Section regulates underground storage tank (UST) systems in the state of Iowa. The UST section receives its regulatory authority from the U.S. Environmental Protection Administration and its Office of Underground Storage Tanks. Iowa is one of 38 states granted program approval through EPA for the regulation of underground storage tank systems.
