Diesel Testing Program Underway – Bio-diesel Production Facility Test Results Now Available
November 6, 2018 |
The month of November marks the beginning of Iowa’s winter diesel testing initiative. The winter diesel testing initiative is set to run through March of 2019. Last year, nearly 200 diesel fuel samples were collected over a similar time period at all of Iowa’s petroleum pipeline terminals. Samples are collected by Iowa Department of Agriculture Weights and Measures Inspectors and are analyzed at the Iowa Central Community College Motor Fuel Testing Laboratory in Fort Dodge under the supervisions of Dr. Don Heck. Diesel fuel samples are analyzed in the areas of cloud point, cold flow, flash, moisture, biodiesel content, and particulates.
In addition to the winter diesel fuel testing program, state inspectors will also be collecting regular samples from Iowa biodiesel production facilities. Test results from these samples will be made available to PMCI members via the PMCI website in a similar format to the winter diesel testing program results. You can view test data here.
PMCI members that are in need of assistance with any fuel related sampling and testing are encouraged to contact the PMCI office for assistance.
