PMCI Health Trust Announces Strong 2018 Results; Competitive Rates for 2019

The PMCI Board of Trustees met August 31 to review the performance of the PMCI Health Trust for the year, and to set the course for 2019.  The Health Trust is among the key benefits offered to members, giving them competitive health care insurance that combats rising health care costs for their businesses and employees.

At Friday’s meeting, the Trustees received expert advice from a panel of actuaries, health insurance professionals, lawyers and CPA’s to determine how best to improve medical, dental, vision, life, and wellness coverage options and to evaluate costs and premiums.

“This past year, the PMCI Health Trust has performed remarkably well, outperforming industry benchmarks, and growing the financial strength of the Trust,” said Dawn Carlson, President and CEO of PMCI.  “Key drivers of our performance include rising participation in our Wellness program, as well as diligent and prudent management of our health plans and options by the Trustees.”

“Based on the actuarial analysis of the past year’s claims and industry trends, we are pleased to announce that medical premiums will only increase 3% on average for participating members, significantly better than industry average.  In fact, many member companies will see their premiums go down this year, an incredible accomplishment in today’s marketplace.  Average dental premiums will actually remain flat,” said Carlson.

“Participation in the Trust not only helps keep the average cost down, but also provides protection from huge swings in premiums year to year for individual member companies. The power of big numbers helps shield all members from these fluctuations, another huge reason for members to participate,” added Carlson.

“We continue to be very pleased with the performance of the Health Trust and we encourage all participants to take advantage of the Wellness Program as well as other new programs such as Doctors on Demand, to get the quality care they deserve and to keep costs low for all. For PMCI members that do not presently take advantage of the Health Trust, we strongly encourage you to get a quote by calling Mary Johnson at 515-237-0121 today,” said Bryan Bandstra, of Key Cooperative, Chairman of the Board of Trustees.

PMCI is pleased to have such a distinguished, dedicated group of professionals working on the Health Trust. Thank you to Bryan Bandstra of Key Cooperative, Andrew Woodard of Elliott Oil, Lisa Abens of Wessels Oil, and Brooke Lilley of Jet Gas for their service.
