ACTIVE MEMBER BOARD ELECTION NOMINEES

Mark Cobb, Cobb Oil Company [incumbent]

Mark is President of Cobb Oil Co., Inc. and a fourth generation marketer. He received his degree in petroleum marketing from Ellsworth Community College. Cobb Oil is a family business in which both his wife and son are involved.  The business includes owning and operating 9 convenience stores, a bulk plant/tank wagon business, bulk oil/lubricant business and transport operations.  Mark is chairman of the PMCI Board, serves on the Board of RINAlliance, chairs the Fuels committee for PMCI, is past chairman and current board member of the Iowa Biodiesel Board, vice chairman of Iowa Renewable Energy and is a captain on the Brighton Volunteer Fire Department.  His involvement on various boards has strengthened his belief that a collective voice on the Hill really can, and does, make a difference.

 

Scott Cornish, Petroleum Services Company, LLC [incumbent]

Scott is President & COO of Petroleum Services Company and a former board member of RINAlliance. He is currently on the PMCI Executive Committee and serves as the Treasurer. Petroleum Services Company owns 9 convenience stores, one travel plaza, two bulk fuel plants, tank wagon service, and a fuel transportation division. In addition, Petroleum Services owns Driven Management Solutions, a subsidiary that operates convenience stores and truck stops for independent owners. They are a branded Sinclair Oil jobber and a Mobil and Chevron oil distributor. Scott values membership in PMCI for access to industry expertise, regulatory awareness, and the ability to network and support Iowa businesses. Scott wishes to continue serving on the PMCI board to promote the successful ownership and operation of Iowa based fuel marketers, convenience stores, and truck stores.

 

Douglas Coziahr, Nebraska Iowa Supply Company [incumbent]

Douglas Coziahr, Branded and Unbranded Sales Manager for Nebraska Iowa Supply Company has been on the Board of Directors of PMCI for 4 years. Coziahr has been involved with several petroleum associations and within the convenience industry over the last 17 years. Prior to working at Nebraska Iowa Supply Company, Douglas was involved with a larger Wholesale company with multiple state sites and sales.  He was also involved in his family owned stations and worked with many city, county, state, and private organizations to help strengthen business relationships of convenience stores. Doug appreciates PMCI’s active administration, board and members and hopes to help increase membership awareness of issues and continue working to affect state and federal legislative processes.  He has lobbied with PMCI and the Petroleum Marketers Association of America (PMAA) in Washington, DC, and serves on many active PMCI committees.

 

Jason McDermott, McDermott Oil Company [incumbent]

Jason is president of McDermott Oil and a second generation marketer who joined the family business after receiving his finance degree from ISU and MBA from U of I. His company began as a single tankwagon business and has diversified to include propane, bulk fuels, wholesale and six convenience stores. He also volunteers on educational and economic development committees in his community. He believes PMCI is an asset to his business, and he believes it is important to serve as a volunteer leader and give back to the industry. Jason is passionate about the business of PMCI serving its members and strives to be a careful steward of its members’ dues. He encourages all members to invest the time to serve and advance our industry’s issues.

 

Jim Pauk, W & H Cooperative Oil [incumbent]

Jim is General Manager of W & H Cooperative, located in Humboldt. He has spent the last twelve years of his career in the petroleum/convenience store world while acting as the Retail Sales Manager at K & H Cooperative Oil, before taking the General Manager position at W & H. Jim has been active in the retail subcommittee of PMCI for many of those years as well. W & H Cooperative owns and operates 6 convenience stores, 5 card locations as well as bulk fuel and propane deliveries. Jim also sits on the planning and zoning board for Wright County, as well as a board member at Clarmond Country Club. Jim is looking forward to bringing his business knowledge and experience of being on several boards to help PMCI and its members reach their goals in the future.

Matt is Co-Owner and COO of The Depot Express, headquartered in Tiffin, IA. A second-generation owner, Matt returned to the family business after earning his degree in Marketing and Certificate of Entrepreneurship from the University of Iowa. Over the last 15 years, Matt has helped grow a single service station started in 1975 to a chain of 10 convenience stores that he operates with his parents, brother, sister-in-law, and wife. He has worked various managerial roles in the petroleum/convenience industry and has fond memories of his family’s business over the years. Matt looks forward to the opportunity to use his industry expertise and serve PMCI members as a contributing voice of small business owners.

 

Bob Schulte, Cubby’s Inc.

Bob is Director of Commercial Sales for Cubby’s Inc. based in Omaha, NE. He has been with Cubby’s for nine years and prior to that spent eleven years with CHS Inc managing retail and direct brand marketing. He also served eighteen years at CIC (7-Eleven Licensee) as Petroleum manager for 150 stores in ten states. Cubby’s operates convenience stores, truck stops and supermarkets in Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota specializing in food and a wide selection of gasoline and diesel products. Bob believes his experience and passion for the industry will be of service to the members of PMCI and looks forward to the opportunity to be a resource for association staff and elevate member needs to the association’s legislative and regulatory agenda.

 

Jason Stauffer, Star Energy FS

Jason currently serves as Manager, Fuels, and Lubricants at STAR Energy FS of Manson, IA.  STAR Energy FS operates more than 18 branded retail fueling stations and markets refined and renewable fuels, bulk and packaged lubricants, and propane to customers in northwest Iowa and beyond.  As a part of the GROWMARK System, Jason not only represents STAR Energy FS but all FS-branded companies across the state. Jason is seeking a PMCI board position because he can be an effective voice for both cooperatives and independent fuel marketers.  He wants to advocate for members while helping shape legislation that will benefit the industry for years to come. His 21 years in the petroleum industry has given him the insight to all of the challenges our industry faces. “STAR Energy FS and the GROWMARK system values our PMCI membership for ongoing commitment to working with state and federal representatives in addition to the public,” said Stauffer, “PMCI is a strong voice of reason and does an outstanding job reaching out to its members for feedback on ongoing and future issues.” Because of Jason’s history with GROWMARK, he knows the importance of uniting to a common goal and making sure our voice is heard on legislative issues affecting our industry.

 

Tia Tiefenthaler, Al’s Corner Oil [incumbent]

Tia is the Operations Manager of Al’s Corner Oil and Sparky’s One Stop in Carroll. Als’ Corner Oil is a family owned and operated business started in 1977 by Tia’s grandfather, Alfred Tiefenthaler. She attended the University of Iowa and received her bachelor’s degree in Business Management with an Entrepreneurship certificate. Tia is excited about the opportunity to continue to serve on the PMCI board. Tia’s uncle Rollin Tiefenthaler was a board member for several years and appreciates the opportunity to carry the tradition on for Sparky’s by giving back to the industry.

Joe is the Industry and Trade Association Manager representing Kwik Trip Inc. in Washington, D.C., the three state governments they operate in (IA, WI and MN) and all the trade organizations they are involved in. He has spent 21 years of his career in the Petroleum / Convenience Store Industry. Three years as a District Leader of Retail Stores, 18 years in petroleum procurement and Director of the petroleum division and just recently moved into his new role of Industry and Trade Association Manager. He has served on or is currently serving on several Boards such as WPMCA / SIGMA / NATSO / and NAC’s Fuels Institute. Joe is asking for your consideration to be a member of PMCI’s Board. He will take the responsibility of your Board very seriously, is dedicated to making the best decisions and “Making A Difference” for all the members and companies of PMCI.

 

ASSOCIATE MEMBER BOARD ELECTION NOMINEE

Chris Biellier, Seneca Companies [incumbent] | ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR CANDIDATE

Chris has 29 years of industry experience in the petroleum industry and currently serves as Vice President of Seneca Companies’ Waste Solutions Division, in areas such as fuel quality, remolding, closures, compliance, safety, spill response, etc. as these affect PMCI members. “My knowledge, experience, and insight to topics such as fuel quality issues and how it affects the industry today versus years past has been a growing concern, and I feel my insight and connection to the industry would be beneficial,” said Biellier. Seneca has been a long-standing member, supporter, and sponsor of PMCI. The insights and shared ideas in keeping the industry informed and on track for proactive growth has been beneficial not only to those members affected but also to Seneca being a part of PMCI’s success.
