July 1- Three Important Reminders for PMCI Members
June 26, 2018 by Admin |
July 1 serves as an important date for PMCI members. On July 1, PMCI members hauling hazardous materials are required to file their annual hazardous materials registration with PHMSA and pay the associated fee. PMCI published information on the hazardous materials registration process earlier this month. That information can be found on the PMCI website here.
Additionally, July 1 marks the end of the state of Iowa’s fiscal year. On July 1 the Iowa Department of Revenue adjusts the state motor fuel excise tax rates for gasoline and ethanol blended gasoline depending on ethanol blended gasoline’s market share. Beginning July 1, 2018, the excise tax rate for gasoline will increase to $.307 (previously $.305) while the excise tax rate for ethanol blended gasoline will remain $.290.
Finally, July 1 is also an important date for retail motor fuel meter license renewals. Renewal applications received by the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardships Weights and Measures Bureau will be charged $4.50 per meter if received between July 1 – July 31. Renewal applications received after July 31 will be assessed a fee of $9 per meter. Please contact PMCI if you need assistance or have any questions about the items listed above.
