Ivan Hankins Named Board Chairman for the National Conference on Weights and Measures

Longtime Iowa Weights and Measures Inspector Ivan Hankins has been named Board Chairman for the National Conference on Weights and Measures (NCWM). The NCWM is a national standards setting organization overseeing commercial weighing and measuring devices, metrology, and engine fuel quality to name just a few.

After proudly serving in the United States Marine Corps, Ivan accepted a job with the Bureau where he has been employed for over 35 years. During his tenure with the Bureau, Ivan has proudly represented Iowa consumers and Iowa businesses before the NCWM where the guiding principle is the quest for fairness and equity in the marketplace.

Over the course of his tenure, Ivan has served as a resource for Iowa’s fuel industry and the consumers we serve. Ivan’s an accomplished poet and a lover of motorcycles and good music. The next time Ivan stops at your location to inspect your fuel pumps or grab a fuel sample, be sure to congratulate him on his chairmanship with the NCWM and ask him for an impromptu reading of one of his poems!
