Introducing Round Up for Camp Courageous
October 19, 2021 |
FUELIowa members are proud sponsors of Camp Courageous. This year, instead of Cent-a-Gallon Day, FUELIowa is introducing Round Up for Camp Courageous to support the organization. Read on for an excerpt from the upcoming FUELIowa magazine that offers more detail:
FUELIowa members can lift up Camp Courageous by encouraging customers to “Round Up” their transactions to the nearest dollar the week of Thanksgiving, Sunday, November 21st through the 27th. We are calling this FUELIowa’s “Round Up for Camp Courageous” week.
You see, Camp Courageous is in bad need of a new elevator in the Durgin Pavilion. This beautiful structure overlooks Camp’s Lake Todd. The campers use the upstairs for dances and all kinds of special events. The basement has a two-lane bowling alley, arcade games, ping-pong, and billiards. What is difficult, is the only way from the basement to the upstairs are steps that can be especially difficult for many campers including many who use wheelchairs. A new elevator will dramatically improve the usefulness within the pavilion and be significantly safer for the campers.
How FUELIowa Members Can Help
You can help by encouraging your customers to “Round Up for Camp Courageous” and donating the proceeds to the Camp by check at the end of the week. Some members will program a special button on their payment systems to capture the round-up. Some members will put out canisters for spare change. Some members may desire to match a portion of the donations, and some may extend the campaign for the entire month of November.
Regardless of how you choose to participate, the money raised will go a long way in helping Camp Courageous meet its goal. In addition, FUELIowa will be working with local media to promote the event and raise awareness of the camp and its goals.
