Governor Reynolds Issues Expanded Proclamation Related to Dyed Diesel Use
This morning, Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds expanded Iowa’s proclamation suspending regulatory requirements covering the use of dyed diesel fuel for on-road use within the state of Iowa. Today’s expansion adds livestock, livestock feed, and other farm products as qualifying products hauled by a carrier while taking advantage of the proclamation.
One quick point of clarification between President Trump’s Executive Order and Governor Reynolds proclamation has to do with deferment of tax due for dyed fuel used in an on-road application. Under President Trump’s Executive Order, federal excise tax will be deferred on dyed diesel used on-road until some time after December 31, 2026. Under Iowa’s proclamation, state excise tax and sales tax will be temporarily suspended through February 2, 2027.
