FUELIowa Response to Zero-emission Vehicles Bill

New legislation was introduced this past week in Congress that would attempt to phase out and eliminate the sale of internal combustion engine vehicles. The Zero-Emissions Vehicles Act, which aims to end U.S. sales of new gasoline-powered vehicles by 2035, received a swift response from Senator Grassley, who defended Iowa’s use of internal combustion vehicles and the state’s leadership in producing higher blended fuels that provide more options for consumers, businesses, and retailers.

FUELIowa shares the viewpoint of Senator Grassley and Iowa’s biofuel groups, and echoes the call on Congress to oppose this legislation that would adversely impact communities across the state, particularly our rural communities. Not only would the bill harm Iowa's economy, but such a move would stifle the hard work of producers, distributors and local c-stores who are already expanding a diverse set of fuel options at the pump. 

Together, Iowa's fuel industry and its partners are working tirelessly to fuel Iowa's economy with the highest quality fuels available. FUELIowa believes it is time to instead focus on critical infrastructure funding that will allow every Iowa community to offer higher blended fuels.
