FUELIowa Responds to New Des Moines Register/Mediacom Poll

A recent Des Moines Register/Mediacom poll shows 85 percent of Iowan’s believe Iowa’s ethanol industry is critically or fairly important to the state’s economy. FUELIowa agrees with the overwhelming majority of respondents and we are continuing to work to educate state and federal lawmakers on the steps necessary to position biofuels as the fuel of the future for Iowa’s consumers.
The liquid fuels industry is in a race against electric vehicles. Electric vehicle (EVs) advocates have organized and gained influence on the federal level resulting in federal policy skewed heavily in favor of EVs. The time is now for members of the liquid fuels industry to stop the in-fighting and advancement of divisive policies that impose government mandates, eliminate consumer choice, and impose unprecedented restrictions on how businesses choose to operate.
Instead of divisive policies centered on restricting choice, the liquid fuels industry should be focused on an approach that incentivizes businesses to accelerate investments into high-blend biofuels and begin introducing these products to consumers on a fast-track that ensures biofuels place in the future purchasing habits of consumers.
