FUELIowa Members Receive HBIIP Grant Funds For Critical Infrastructure Upgrades

On Thursday, October 8, the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced $22 million dollars in grant award funds for retailers participating in the USDA Higher Blend Infrastructure Incentive Program (HBIIP). Earlier this year, the USDA announced the HBIIP program making $100 million dollars available in competitive grants for the upgrade of infrastructure required for the sale of high blend biofuels. In total, USDA made $86 million dollars available for ethanol related projects and $14 million dollars available for biodiesel related projects.

Of the initial $22 million dollars in grant award funding announced by the USDA, FUELIowa members received $2,649,212. In total, 29 FUELIowa member locations received grant awards through the USDA program. The scope of projects being undertaken by FUELIowa members through USDA HBIIP program grants will result in the installation of 134 new dispensers and 27 new underground storage tanks compatible with the sale of ethanol blends of 15 percent or greater.
