The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) has scheduled their annual roadcheck initiative to begin on Tuesday, June 5. Over a 72-hour period from June 5-7, commercial motor vehicle inspectors in North America will conduct inspections of commercial motor vehicles and drivers. This year’s focus is on hours-of-service compliance.
According to CVSA hours-of-service violations were the leading reason drivers were placed out-of-service during the 2017 International Roadcheck. In total, thirty-two percent of the drivers placed out-of-service during the 2017 International Roadcheck were removed from the roads due to hours-of-service violations.
During International Roadcheck 2018, inspectors will primarily conduct the North American Standard Level I Inspection, a 37-step procedure that includes an examination of both driver operating requirements and vehicle mechanical fitness.
