Retailer Fuel Gallons Report to Iowa Department of Revenue by February 2
January 27, 2026 |
FUELIowa members should have received instructions from the Iowa Department of Revenue on submitting their annual fuel retailer gallons report to the Iowa Department of Revenue. Filings are due to the Iowa Department of Revenue by February 2, 2026. Past due filings are now subject to penalties as part of Iowa’s E15 Access Mandate.
All FUELIowa members with a Motor Fuel Retailer Account in Iowa’s online GovConnectIowa Portal should have received a filing notice in December. Iowa’s Retailer Fuel Gallons Report is prepared by the Iowa Department of Revenue and presented to the Iowa General Assembly on April 1 every year. The report has played a critical role in past policy discussions among lawmakers.
As a reminder, retail fuel sales in Iowa include sales from a brick-and-mortar location along with sales to end-use customers like commercial businesses and farms made from a tankwagon or transport. The Iowa Department of Revenue has provided the following online tutorial to assist FUELIowa members with filing their annual Retailer Fuel Gallons Report.
The report is accessible through the GovConnectIowa portal. FUELIowa members with questions are encouraged to contact John Maynes (john@fueliowa.com). A copy of the 2024 Retailer Fuel Gallons Report is available for reference here.
