PRESS RELEASE: Marc Beltrame Chosen to Represent FUELIowa

Seasoned Lobbyist Will Advocate for Fuel Distributors and Retailers at the Iowa Capitol

Urbandale, IA – FUELIowa, the voice of Iowa’s fuel industry and the state’s association of fuel distributors and convenience store retailers, announced the selection of its new state executive and legislative branch lobbyist. Marc Beltrame, a ten-year veteran of the Iowa Capitol, was unanimously selected by the Board of Directors to represent the association on policy matters.

“FUELIowa is excited to have Marc on board to lead our state advocacy efforts. Marc’s experience across a diverse set of issues will help take FUELIowa’s policy advocacy to the next level,” stated Scott Cornish, Chair of the FUELIowa Board of Directors.

“Marc is a seasoned attorney and lobbyist who knows how to get things done and undoubtedly cares about the people he represents. The staff and members of FUELIowa welcome him to the team and look forward to working with him to make sure the voice of Iowa’s fuel industry is represented at the State Capitol,” said Ronald N. Langston, President & CEO of FUELIowa.

Marc Beltrame, a Des Moines native, has practiced law for twenty years, ten of which have been spent in policy advocacy at the Iowa State Capitol. A nationally recognized attorney in the area of government relations, Beltrame has extensive experience in Iowa politics and federal policy, having served as Deputy Chief of Staff to the late U.S. Congressman Leonard Boswell. Beltrame received his B.A., with honors, from the University of Iowa, and received his J.D. from the University of Iowa where he served as Managing Editor of the Iowa Law Review.

“I am honored to be selected to represent FUELIowa at the Iowa Capitol. As the grandson of a neighborhood grocer, I hold Iowa’s small business retailers in high regard and look forward to helping FUELIowa achieve their policy goals to improve the livelihoods of communities across our state,” stated Beltrame.

“With Marc’s expertise combined with our membership and industry partners, FUELIowa stands ready to advocate as the voice for Iowa’s fuel industry which impacts nearly every community in Iowa. In the weeks and months ahead, our team will work tirelessly to focus on critical infrastructure funding for rural communities, economic resiliency during the pandemic, and reforms that will modernize Iowa’s laws to work more efficiently and effectively for the state economy,” added Langston.

FUELIowa, formerly known as the Petroleum Marketers and Convenience Stores of Iowa, is the voice and resource for Iowa’s fuel industry. FUELIowa is organized as a 501(c)(6) not-for-profit association incorporated in the state. Over the past eighty-five years, the organization’s membership has grown to include fuel distributors, fuel cooperatives, convenience and grocery stores, refiners, biofuel producers and many other businesses that support these companies. FUELIowa members are invested in bringing the best gasoline, diesel, propane, ethanol, biodiesel and other liquid fuels to Iowans.

FUELIowa’s policy agenda has most recently focused on modernizing Iowa’s fuel distribution and retail infrastructure to enable increased sales of Iowa-made biofuels. The association has also been very active in pursuit of reforms to the aging Bottle Bill. FUELIowa’s 2021 policy agenda will be finalized in the coming weeks.
