PMAA Requests and Receives Multi-State Hours of Service Waiver

Yesterday evening, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) granted an immediate regional Hours of Service waiver for the following PMAA member states: Alabama, Arkansas, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Washington D.C. and West Virginia. The emergency declaration applies to all states and jurisdictions listed in the letter. The "emergency" is normal fuel supply and distribution activities in those states and jurisdictions caused by pipeline and refinery outages. This waiver covers all fuel deliveries in the states and jurisdictions listed because they support the "emergency" which in this case is maintaining adequate fuel supply in those areas. Short answer all fuel deliveries are covered. Important: The FMCSA waiver covers interstate delivery of fuel in and out of the states and jurisdictions listed in the waiver letter. PMAA requested the waiver in response to the ongoing flooding that has caused fuel supply shortages throughout much of the country, therefore, requiring petroleum marketers to travel significant distances to secure fuel. Please click here to view the letter sent yesterday.
