DNR Notice on Past Due Tank Management Fees – Penalties Assessed Beginning April 1

All owners or operators of underground storage tanks with a capacity greater than 1100 gallons must submit a tank management fee of $65 per tank by January 15 of each year.  The Iowa Department of Natural Resource Underground Storage Tank Section (Iowa DNR UST Section) has reopened the 2020 online renewal system to accommodate past due tank management fees. Owners and operators are encouraged to pay online using a check; credit cards are not accepted at this time.  Payments received by the Iowa DNR UST Section after March 31, 2020 will result in an assessment of an additional $250 per compartment late fee in accordance with Iowa Administrative Code Chapter 135.3(3).  Questions regarding the submissions of tank management fees by mail should be directed to Iowa DNR UST Section staff at 515-725-8364, 515-725-8450, or by email cara.ingle@dnr.iowa.gov.

As a reminder for fuel delivery companies and owners or operators, if tank management fees are not and 2020 tank tags are not attached to the tank fill pipe by April 1, 2020, fuel delivery is prohibited and fines may be levied against the fuel delivery company and the owner or operator.
